It has been almost two years since we were last in the U.K., but that will change this Friday as we touch down at Heathrow for a week-long tour of England. Starting in Broughton-in-Furness on Saturday, May 3 and ending up in London on May 11 – with five shows/festivals in between – this trip promises to be a great opportunity to reconnect with our wonderful UK fan base. Check our calendar page for the full itinerary. www.slambovia.com/shows

“A BOX OF EVERYTHING” – Coming April 1st!

Though successfully independent for eighteen years, the band has long needed a business person who could play business as well as Sharkey plays guitar if we wanted our music to reach and sustain a relationship with the rest of the world. We think Bob Frank is that guy. He has assembled a tribe around him of very capable and forward thinking people from every frequency and field of entertainment. Through the music arm of his organization, Red River Entertainment, he has hooked us up with a distribution and promotion deal with Sony RED. We are very excited to work with Bob and his able team at Red River and are looking forward to expanding into larger audiences with them!

A Box of Everything, our first project together, will be released on April 1st! It is a “greatest hits” album of sorts, intended to introduce new listeners to all things Slambovian. For those who already know our music, the album contains newly re-mastered versions of previously released fan favorites as well as two completely new tracks and a beautiful studio version of Alligators.

Illustrator Jeff Hoke (whose work Joziah loves) has provided us with the fantastic cover art you see here. We are very happy and excited about these new alliances and are sure you will be happy with what is born of them. Stay tuned for news about pre-orders and CD Release shows for this new album!

Meet Jeff Hoke

A few years ago a fan introduced the band to Jeff Hoke’s The Museum of Lost Wonder – an incredible book that leads the reader into worlds of child-like wonder and curiosity, mixing science, philosophy, history, mythology, alchemy and many other components into a fascinating journey where creativity and imagination reign. The book challenges the reader to consider new ways of thinking and of interacting with the Universe around us and within us. In addition to being a thought-provoking masterpiece, The Museum of Lost Wonder is a beautiful work of art – rich with fantastic illustrations from cover to cover.  It is a book Joziah calls “a national treasure.” Jeff’s website, www.lostwonder.org is a fascinating place to visit as well. Explore various rooms of the virtual museum, check out the exhibits, and get lost in inspiration and imagination!

The cover of A Box of Everything features one of Jeff’s illustrations!

It has been such a great experience to work with Jeff. We hope our fans will enjoy the discovery of the worlds he has created through his site and his book. Check it out here: http://lostwonder.org/book.html

Falcon Ridge Folk Festival footage

The Falcon Ridge Folk Festival has been a favorite event for us for many years. We have built some warm and long-lasting relationships there and created some new traditions in the folk sphere, such as our Friday Night Dance Tent show. This year we asked our friend Victor Moore of Showset Productions to help us document the magic that happens at that festival. Victor brought a three-person camera crew and shot HD footage at the Dance Tent and Main Stage shows. We love the work he did. It really captures the heart and spirit of our Falcon Ridge tribe (which is what we were hoping for!) Here is Alice in Space from last summer’s dance tent and mainstage performances. Stay tuned in coming weeks as we release more videos from this shoot!
