Fans at the Sellersville Theater show had a pleasant surprise (see review below) as newcomer Kolson Pickard took the stage doing double duty on both guitar AND trumpet...
No stranger to Slambovia*, Kolson will be helping engineer and play on the new album over the next few months while Sharkey takes time to recover from his South American adventure... *Kolson recorded on the 'Flapjacks' track "Call To The Mystic".

Slambovians Bring Surreal-Americana to Sellersville Theater
A MUST- SEE EVENT!
“The cool end of Americana” – Maverick Magazine, UK
Sellersville Theater welcomes back New York’s Slambovian Circus of Dreams Friday, April 7th for a show featuring all the “hits” from their catalog as well as a “sneak peak” of the new songs from their next release “A Very Unusual Head” due out later this year.
AKA as ‘The Grand Slambovians’, the band has achieved folk-legend status as pioneers of the alt-folk/Americana genre, while remaining on the fringes of the music industry creating the ‘Slambovian Nation’ of fans here and abroad. Their music, alternately described as a “hillbilly-Floyd,” “folk-pop,” or “surreal Americana” walks the tightrope between existing religious and philosophical mythologies. The songs themselves appeal to a greater human-ness, sometimes empowering – at times darkly haunting, but always engaging with the wry wit of lead singer Longo at the helm. Elements of Dylan, Bowie, Neil Young, Leonard Cohen, Incredible String Band, Waterboys, and the Decemberists are all part of the musical mix. Led by Longo, the band creates an otherworldly connection with audiences. “They’re not just a band, that’s like saying the Bible is just a book…” – Fairfield County Weekly
QUOTES:
“Songs imbued with mystical stirrings and idealism… they take the stage by storm!” – The NY Times
“Super and Natural… I love this band!” – WXPN Philadelphia
“A riveting, mesmerizing, crazy, amazing machine of music.”
– Chronogram Magazine, NY
“Great songs and a whole lotta heart” – Meg Griffin, SiriusXM
“This band reminds me to write & perform with my whole heart and soul.” – Dar Williams
“Joziah is an awesome songwriter!” – Garth Hudson, The Band
“9 out of 10 – Love at first spin!” – Americana UK
“Soothing and bewitching as a snake oil tonic, the entire root system of Rock Family Trees is embedded in Longo’s voice.” – The Big Issue, Scotland, UK

Poem for Syd Barrett ~ B. January 6, 1946
One day in the early 90’s, on a soul-searching walk in the east village of New York City, Joziah slid into a dark fog that made him think of the fragile founding member of Pink Floyd, Syd Barrett (Official) who jumped ship in the early days of the band. Some beautiful murky music swirled in his head and a song started coming down. Joziah wrote it as a personal letter to Syd, hoping it would reach him across the great separating seas of human consciousness… Happy Birthday, Syd!

“SYD”
What did you find Syd, did you find anything, at all?
We walked through the streets,
We were 50 foot tall,
When we called,
They couldn’t hear anything…
And so, we both let go,
Let the wind blow, flew off to better dreams.
But you, what did you do, how’d you fall through,
And lose control of you?
Well I don’t know what you were thinking
What the hell had you been drinking’?
I punched a hole in the bottom of hell,
Light shot up through it
And I said, “Oh well, there goes the neighborhood”.
Sing me an old song about something new,
Could’ya do? Hey, come on let’s try again.
It’s just you were looking’ when there was no find,
Lost your mind, but hey here it comes again…
Don’t go off in the snow,
Feeling’ so low, sold on a hopeless deal.
I know which way to go, what melts the snow,
Flowers will bloom again.
What did you find Syd, did you find anything, at all?
– Joziah Longo
